I did a funny thing the other day: I went house hunting. I didn’t consult my husband, or even express an interest to him about moving—and I certainly didn’t want my kids to attend different schools—but I had a couple hours to myself, which was very rare lately, and thought I just might find some inspiring new place to live with a bigger backyard to grow my garden in without neighboring trees. I found one that looked promising, got in touch with a realtor, got my husband interested; and we had a look. Then HE was ready to move. In all likelihood we wouldn’t even have to increase our mortgage payments—we’d just be living somewhere else. But after returning home and reviewing all of the improvements we made over the 5 years we’d lived in our family home, I started thinking that I’d really miss my house. And I totally talked my husband out of it.
